Do eclipses occur on other planets as well?
The occurrence of solar or lunar eclipses on any planet depends on four natural conditions. The distance from the planet to the sun and the satellite (moon) depends on the shape of the trio, the distance between the trio, the motion of the planet and the satellite and the angle between the orbits. Each of the conditions is favorable for observing solar and lunar eclipses from the earth. So we can see this wonderful view. But there has been no scientific study to know the position of eclipses on our other planets. These studies also have no practical and fundamental significance.
However, it is speculated that solar or lunar eclipses may occur on some planets.Eclipses of some of Jupiter's moons (satellites) can be seen from Earth.
Two other phenomena, such as eclipses, can be seen in astronomy - arcultation and transit.
When a large celestial body appears to be hidden behind an object much smaller than its own, it is called a transit. The planets Mercury and Venus passing through the Sun are transit. These three phenomena can be seen in some of Jupiter's moons (satellites).
The eclipse of the first four moons of Jupiter can be seen from the earth. His names are Oio, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. These satellites are eclipsed every time Jupiter orbits on the same axis on which Jupiter orbits the Sun but for some reason it is occasionally eclipsed by the fourth satellite.
These conditions are seen in each eclipse:
(1) Eclipse of satellites passing through the shadow of Jupiter.
(2) Satellites due to the concealment of Jupiter Arculation.
(3) Transit of satellites passing through the surface of Jupiter
(4) Transit of shadow of satellites.
As done during a solar eclipse:
Asking Pandit Thavaya Jupiter's scientific studies have given us a lot of information. In the same way, our scientific knowledge has been enriched by the study done on the eclipse of satellites.
This study proved for the first time that light travels at a finite speed. In 1675 Danish astronomer All Opera observed that there is a gap between the estimated time of the eclipse and the actual time of the eclipse. He said that this time difference is due to the time lag taken during the journey of light.Time seems less when the earth is closer to Jupiter and more time when it is far away.
The transit of Mercury can be seen from the Earth through binoculars. When Mercury passes in its orbit between the Earth and the Sun, looking at the Earth, it appears that a small black and round object is passing over the shiny surface of the Sun.This phenomenon is called Mercury's transit.Mercury falls between the Sun and the Earth on May 7th and November 9th each year. Mercury's transit can be seen around these dates. The minimum distance between two transits is seven years.
The transit of Venus can be seen even without binoculars. The transit between Venus takes about eight hours.Earth passes through the orbit of Venus twice on the seventh of June and on the eighth of December.About this time the transit of Venus can be seen. There is a gap of eight years between the first and second transit. But the distance between the two transits is more than 100 years. Also conducts scientific studies during the transit of Venus.
In 1679 ,The famous British astronomer Edmund Haley, stated that the distance to the Sun can be determined by studying the parallax during the transit of Venus. For the same purpose, a comprehensive study of transit was conducted in June 1761and 1769 and December 1870 and 1882.The next transit of Venus will appear on June 6, 2012.There are also plans to do some important scientific studies during that time..
Why is every object in the universe round?
The theory of science is that everything in the universe wants to be in the least energy state.Maximum stability occurs only when there is a low energy state. Therefore the energy of the object should be less for maximum stability. Now the question arises as to what form things have when the energy is low!
The area of a circular object is much smaller than that of a square or a triangle. So the surface energy of spherical objects is very low. This attempts to assume the shape of an object ball to achieve minimum energy or maximum stability. The sun,the moon, the stars, the earth and all the other bodies in space are round. You may have noticed that raindrops are also round. This is also due to the fact that the energy on the surface of spherical drops is low. When its stability is very high. When an object reaches a minimum energy level, it is formed like a ball.
